Eastman Chemical Company Chooses Cable Concrete

Cable Concrete #35 Sludge Pond

When Eastman Chemical Company upgraded a coal slurry-process settling pond to ensure compliance with water quality regulation they considered a cast in place concrete liner to protect the new clay liner, thereby eliminating the need for future clay liner replacements every 5-7 years.    In an effort to decrease costs and downtime for the process plant, they choose Cable Concrete as an alternative to the cast-in-place concrete liner.  Besides being an engineered, high-quality 5000 psi air-entrained precast concrete mat system, the 4’ x 16’ Cable Concrete mats provided quick installation, flexibility, and the process plant was back in operation ten days ahead of schedule and at approximately 50 percent of the original cost.
