Cable Concrete #35 Sludge Pond

When Eastman Chemical Company upgraded a coal slurry-process settling pond to ensure compliance with water quality regulation they considered a cast in place concrete liner to protect the new clay liner, thereby eliminating the need for future clay liner replacements every 5-7 years.    In an effort to decrease costs and down time for the process plant, they choose Cable Concrete as an alternative to the cast in place concrete liner.  Besides being an engineered, high quality 5000 psi air entrained precast concrete mat system, the 4’ x 16’ Cable Concrete mats provided quick installation, flexibility and the process plant was back in operation ten days ahead of schedule and at approximately 50 percent of the original cost.
